If you're passionate about the seasons there's nowhere better to be than in the Cotswolds. While I'll present my sorry Scottish skin in front of the sunshine at any given opportunity, autumn and winter bring a different magic to the English countryside. A cosy Cotswold pub to fall into is key, of course...

I've just had the pub chimneys swept at The Ebrington Arm so that can only mean one thing... Roaring log fires, cosy corner catch-ups, roast dinners and clearly a lot more red wine than white!

Our fire in the bar...

Our fire in the bar...

We love countryside walks to take in the changing colours and our subsequent indulgent foodie splurges are much easier to hide under baggy woollen knits. Nearby Batsford Arboretum is a must in the autumn but the best walks are ideally circular walks from the door of the pub... with rewards at the end!

This week we welcomed back a couple who have been staying with us for 8 years. They join the bar after a year or two's absence like old friends, having witnessed battles to save schools, moaning farmers and the banter of locals. It's this part of the good old British pub we love the most, the people.

Most of our regulars know about our newsletter (you can sign-up at the footer of our website home page).  If you haven't already signed up you might be interested to know about our Winter Deal - a free nights B&B when you book two nights with us (See website for Ts & Cs). All you have to do is eat dinner with us on at least two of the three nights (such hardship :)). You can book this directly on the website or give us a call to take advantage T: 01386593223.

So if you're a Jon Snow and truly dread the winter ahead, maybe you're just doing it wrong?
